First of all, my plans were simple; go where ever the hell we wanted, as long as we were all there in the group. I was hoping that we'd all go to the city together and what, Karaoke and have dinner? Well I kinda got that message late. Earlier in the morning I was told, yes prep for the beach, we're going to the beach then having dinner at the city. That made a lot of sense, instead of having our city outings like we usually do, we'll have a final outing with the whole grade, whether we're split into groups again like most other times or of we're finally closer since we know we won't be seeing each other again; it didn't matter. What mattered was having fun, screw everyone else if they wanted to stick with their group, we had our own right? Anyway from what I learnt, Lynda didn't want to go to the beach? Guess what, neither did Matthew, with his strong opinions against going to the beach, I simply told him exactly what I'm saying here.
- We're going there as a group.
- Our grade has been distant for so long and suddenly it appears to be closer towards the end of school - deny this if you like but seriously something as simple as taking photos with people you don't talk to like pretty much everyone, can actually make a difference. Unity when it came to the year 12 concert, the support from the whole grade, the prefects, it makes a huge difference.
- Despite how our grade seemed to be closer, if it really wasn't, we still have our group and we have a beach, you can still have fun.
Isn't that all that mattered, he didn't bring swimwear but he still enjoyed his time. You told me that you didn't want to go because people wanted to get drunk - I was there and there was no alcohol. I understood your view and I would've thought the same too.
Other than this I still had my reasons for wanting to go to the beach. Whether I talked to everyone or not didn't matter, it was the perception of seeing their faces for one last time, being at the beach not as individuals but as Seftoners, I knew that the group thing and the exclusion would eventually subside. Nevertheless, I was expecting to go to the beach with everyone, yeah not just the 4 of us who showed up at the station but all of us.
I later then found out that we weren't going to the beach, instead you guys were going to go Parramatta and then to the city. Well what can I say? I took it as a uhmm what, City at night for dinner correct? Why don't we just go beach..? Why Parra, I mean that's like a tiny version of the City all in one place, correct me if I'm wrong since I don't really know anything about Parramatta. But yeah weren't we going to Karaoke and then have dinner or something?
What made sense to me was beach 12-4 or 5, 5-6:30 karaoke then dinner till 8 or 9, that made a lot of sense to me. Karaoke can go on for an hour or two or as long as you want but who is going to sing for over a few hours, we'd all be drained and just get lazy.
I also understood what you meant, perhaps even how you felt and I do deeply apologise but honestly, I never wanted to have two separate groups. Lynda didn't want to or couldn't go to the beach, she couldn't stay for dinner? Well. Maybe we should've gone to the beach just and since she can't stay for dinner, we'll go back to the city together then she can depart there. Oh and I'm going to assume she doesn't like the beach cause she doesn't like the Sun, maybe we could've brought a giant umbrella for her lol.
Does anybody realise how hard it is to decide where to go when there's always a person who doesn't like going here or doesn't want to go there, why can't you accept the fact that we as a group are going to go there and be together as a group and if you have a thing against being pressured into swimming, wearing stuff you're not comfortable with then just don't bloody do it lol. People who feel pressured into wearing things, doing things.. most people. Realise that ultimately it's your decision and what if your friends look down on you? Well they aren't really friends are they ?
Anyway back to the point, Yeah you could've gone with michael. I get that you didn't bring your stuff but neither did most other people. I came to school prepared for both the beach outing and the city outing, unsure where we were going to go since no one was clear on it.
I do thank you for stepping up and trying to organise what we're all going to do together but if you're going to do something for just for one particular person, please let us know earlier and not just say "we're going to parra till 3 and you guys should meet us at the city at like 4" honestly Parra is okay for eating and all but I don't think it's much fun walking around and just window shopping or saying "where should we go now"
I don't blame you Lynda but why can't you hang out with us at the beach? Are you allergic to the Sun? I mean I would've been willing to bring a large enough umbrella to like shade you and all but yeah, if it was just something you had against the beach then please, we're going there as a group and if it turns out to be shit we could go to the city or Parra.
Indeed I haven't known you for long but it wasn't my intention for yesterday to end up so fucked up, as you said, we all should've stated what we wanted earlier. I told you, I was prepared for the beach and was stuck to it then dinner at the city which is what I did end up doing anyway. The difference was that from what I heard, not everyone wanted to face you after you were pissed; personally I didn't care if you were, I mean yell at me if you want, I' only here cause including you, I have other friends with me too, if you want to be mad at me, don't talk to me. With the others, not so similar so only I can tell you what I was thinking during the time. I wanted to have dinner together, despite having most of the day split, I wanted our group at a table talking, and enjoying our meal.
thanks for this post, really.
ReplyDeletebut for half of your post you mentioned lynda didnt want to go.
i apologise if i gave that impression. lynda doesnt have much to do with this whole issue. please leave her out of it. when you guys called and i said that we were going to parra, what i ment was that we (the people who i was with) were going to parra for lunch. i did not tell you to go... no matter where we had to go, lynda would not have been able to stay for long. i decided to go parra, because it was somewhere that we could go and be able to get to city on time.
even if it was decided to go banks or parra or wherever for the whole entire day, lynda would still not have been able to go.
if i remember correctly, i said to meet up with us at the city at around 3 or 4. noone has dinner at 3 or 4.. correct me if im wrong.
you posted that you were "hoping that we'd all go to the city together and what, Karaoke and have dinner?"
nick, michael, kwo and i still karaoked and had dinner. none of you bothered to text and actually ask about it.
yes, i was wrong to change something due to one person but when i texted/you called, you were all still at kims house. by the time you arrived at the city, we would have been there at approximately the same time.
what i didnt know yesterday, and what hurt more today was the fact that you actually did have dinner. what happened to the "noone can stay back"?
not being included sucks, being lied to sucks even more. honestly, i would have gotten over the whole thing if we actually did meet up. the only thing i wanted anyway was to have everyone together.
